great food and entertainment! with the royal ali’i package, you are greeted with a flower lei, a complimentary mai tai drink, and can take photos with the hawaiian dancers. before the performance, there are many activities to do such as lei making or spear throwing before dinner. then you can watch the imo ceremony where they pull the kalua pig out of the sand oven. when you are seated for dinner, your dinner is served to you, great kalua pig, macaroni salad, fish, fried chicken, poi, etc. and you don’t have to stand in the buffet line. while you are eating dinner, there is live music and live performances by the hawaiian dancers.

get the royal ali’i package, the food is served to you plus you get tickets for complimentary drinks. you can also purchase the souveneir photos that you took at the beginning on your way out.

before the marathon i went running over at kapiolani park in order to get acclimated to the humidity and weather in hawaii while running. it’s a beautiful place to run full of greenery and beautiful scenery. for the marathon runners, there was a celebrity run on this morning, but i missed it.

also there are free movies at kapiolani park where they just set up a screen and you can watch movies in the outdoors. just bring your own beach chair or towel, sit back and enjoy they beautiful hawaiian sky and the movie. i think its on saturdays, you may want to try to find out more information.

great place to go shopping, some major chains here as well as some local shops plus a massive ethnic food court, something for everyone here.

there is a free Hilo Hattie shuttle that takes you from Waikiki to Ala Moana Shopping Center.

they had a lot of booths for running gear, equipment, accessories, etc. but what i really went back for were the massages and the local arts and crafts booths! there were great local jewelry, clothing, bags, etc. they had hula lessons, lei making lesssons, autograph signing by “lost” stars: yunjin kim and naveen andrews, and kelly hu who also ran the honolulu marathon

they had a booth at the Honolulu Marathon Expo, lovely handcrafted gifts and bags, i especially like their backpacks and their id travel bags.

this is one long street that’ll take you from one end of waikiki to the other. a lot of shops, stores, shopping centers, hotels, and restaurants. i think it passes the ala wai canal and goes to kapiolani park and easy access to waikiki beach.

this is a great marathon for beginners, as there is no time limit, is one of the best organized, and the locals are so nice and helpful! the route was beautiful, started at ala moana park in waiki, ran around diamond head towards hanuma bay and back down to the finish line at kapiolani park. there were bands performing music along the way and great volunteers! thank you to all of the people who supported my fundraising efforts and the cheerleaders who kept me going!

i went here to rent snorkel gear, don’t be fooled by the $1.50 per day rental, it’s for the cheapy one. for good snorkel gear expect to spend about $8 per day (24 hour period).

you can purchase discount tickets to attractions on maui here. usually with purchase of certain attractions, you can get a free snorkel trip to molokini.

recommended by my uncle to come here for some nice easy snorkeling, easy to get to, beautiful fish and corals.
from snorkel bob’s website: Ulua/Mokapu Beach is between Wailea Beach Hotel (formerly Stouffer’s) and the Outrigger Resort Hotel (formerly Intercontinental)in Wailea, with easy parking and full facilities. The lava rock outcropping between the 2 beaches is prolific habitat.

make sure you get there early, i was told around 8, because if you get there later, the water will get murky from the beachgoers and it will be hard to see.
if you are renting gear, make sure you get it the day before, as the shops are not open that early in the morning. you usually rent for 24 hours at a time or at a weekly rate.
