The Zocalo is an enormous concrete space signified with a giant flag. Check-out what used to be the Merchants’ arcade, but what is now a great shopping area on the west side, it has cafés and even a traditional hat shop! Be sure to go to the underground Zocalo station where you can see all sorts of native historical ruins.

There are many points of interest around the Zocalo, so be sure to walk around the surrounding areas. Find a map that points out the hot spots.

You have to see the world-renowned frescoes by Diego Rivera, especially the panoramic mural of Mexican history. Come see some of the most important historical relics of Mexican culture for over 300 years! The building itself was once occupied by Hernan Cortes, the Spanish explorer who defeated the Aztecs.

Home to the “Plaza de las 3 Culturas” which also includes the Museum of Anthropology and the Cathedral. There are enough activities here to easily occupy a family for whole day, and enough space to simply walk around and enjoy the 1,600 acres of bucolic park space.

A great place for visitors to learn about Mexican tradition. This plaza is influenced by Spanish, Aztec, and modern Mexican cultures. Recommended is checking out the ruins of Tlatelolco, an old Aztec city.

The National Museum of Anthropology in Chapultepec (Grasshopper) Park in Mexico City is one of the most complete of its type known to the world. If you go here on Saturday, you can experience one of the great past-times of Mexico City, the “Bazar del Sabado.” You simply must experience some good old fashion outdoor street market shopping. A must see for all you believers and even non-believers! This relic is an original image of the Virgin Mary appearing on the CLOTH of Indian Juan Diego. Oh yeah, the two ancient basilica’s are pretty nice also.

“Where Men Became Gods” This famous and renowned Mexican site is home to the great Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, the Palace of Quetzal, the Feather-Snake Temple, the Avenue of Death and the Cathedral. Don’t be frightened, it’s a great site to see! This location was once the sixth largest city in the world.
