A new (aka trendy) bakery that lives up to the hype. Good pastries, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Worth going to, even if it is a bit out of the way.

By Subway: Get off at Smith/9th and get on the B77 bus (just outside the subway entrance to your right) which will take you into Red Hook and drop you off at VanBrunt and Dikeman (1/2 block south of Baked).
By bus: Take the B61. It will drop you off right in front of baked.
By car- From the city: Take the Brooklyn Bridge and go down Brooklyn Bridge Blvd. Make a right on Atlantic Ave. Left on Columbia Street. Right on Sackett Street. Left on Van Brunt. Veer right on Van Brunt. Baked is about a half mile down on the left hand side. #359 between Wolcott and Dikeman Streets.

The peanut butter and jelly square will appeal to every grown up still in love with this classic combo.

Baked is on Court street @ Douglass, in the middle of many shops and restaurants. You can walk from Baked, a bakery in Red Hook, to Sweet Melissa in about 20 minutes. It’s a nice way to work up an appetite if you’re on a Brooklyn bakery tour.

Get the Beesting – a custard filled brioche bun dipped in a honey caramel. Yum.
There are 2 other locations – one in Manhattan at 75 W Houston Street (at West Broadway) and another in Brooklyn at 296 Bond Street (at Sackett). The baking headquarters is at the Bond Street location.

Take a break from the sugar at this hip tea shop with a great variety of loose leaf tea (and brownies from Fatwitch and pastries from Sarabeth’s just in case you need a sweet).

Take the F train to the Bergen Street Stop, and walk with traffic (North) on Smith Street.
Turn left on Dean Street and you can’t miss the ‘Cookies’ sign.

A chocolate boutique and dessert cafe in the Park Slope neighborhood in Brooklyn, There is a case full of chocolates made by master Chocolatier Fritz Knipschildt, along with many of his gift boxes. You can sit in the cafe area for a wine, coffee and range of chocolate desserts.

From the Q and the B lines, get off at the Seventh Avenue and Flatbush stop and walk West along Warren to Fifth Avenue.
From the 2 and the 3 lines, get off at the Bergen Street exit and walk southwest along Fifth Avenue until you reach The Chocolate Room.
