Al Gatto Nero da Ruggero: Located on the island of Burano, Al Gatto Nero is undoubtedly one of the best seafood restaurants in town. It’s been a true family restaurant for 80 years, and the recipes have been handed down for generations. They serve only the freshest seafood, harvested right at their doorstep, and it’s quickly and simply prepared to preserve the flavor of the fish.
Vaporetto: Burano (ferry boat)

Cantinone già Schiave: If you want to eat like a true Venetian, sit down for a meal at a bacari(local restaurant). Cantinone già Schiave, in Dorsoduro, is one of the finest bacaris in the city. It features one of Venice’s best wine cellars and a number of creative dishes, such as baccalà mantecato spiced with herbs.
Where: Fondamenta Nani, Dorsoduro 992
Vaporetto: Zattere (ferry boat)

Restaurante Cantina Canaletto: When it comes to fine dining in Venice, most restaurants are designed for crowds that are just passing through. However, on a quiet street off St. Mark’s Square, you’ll find the Restaurante Cantina Canaletto, which has a completely different mood. In addition to serving all sorts of gastronomic delights, Canaletto has hundreds and hundreds of bottles of wine to choose from. For a reasonable price, you can get a glass from any bottle you want in the collection. Most importantly, they’ll let you enjoy it without rushing you out the door.
