Horyuji temple

This world heritage site houses the worls oldest wooden structure. Highly popular with Japanese and non Japanese alike this temple oozes history and character. Deeply rooted in the foundations of Buddhism this temple is an absoloute must see..

15 mins walk from JR Horuji station or easily navigated by bicycle from Yougendo.


Tips:

it is possible to get a free guided tour.. ask around the temple site.
Only one stop from Yougendo guesthouse by train but so much quicker if you go by the bicycles we have waiting for you to use for free.
