Check in around 3 pm from the airport if you are just coming in to Japan, or from Tokyo or some other town or city.
Spend at least 2 hours settling into your luxury accomodation and marvel at this large, stately house.
walk around the extensive gardens. take pictures of the great big wooden roof beams or perhaps the hand painted paper doors or take a shower and take advantage of the luxury towels, bathrobes and sleeping gowns laid out for you.
2 hours won’t be enough to see everything in this guesthouse but you will want to do a short sightseeing trip before it gets dark.
You might as well take in Japan’s most famous temple and the world’s oldest wooden structure as your first place to visit in the area.

Ask the staff on reception to see the large hidden shrine and the ancient “person carrier” – You won’t get another chance to see this anywhere else.
