TripTie Privacy Policy

TripTie is an online application that helps people plan their travel. To accomplish this, our users submit their travel itineraries, to-bring lists, blogs, and photos for sharing amongst the TripTie community, to be reviewed or remixed. To fulfill the purpose of our site, TripTie needs to display a limited amount of personal information so that our users may evaluate the trustworthiness of particular reviews and comments.
This Privacy Policy describes how TripTie treats our users' personal information. By using TripTie you agree to the collection and/or use of your personal information as outlined below. Please revisit this page periodically to review any changes to the Privacy Policy.

- This Privacy Policy pertains to the use of the TripTie web site at http://www.triptie.com/
- This Privacy Policy covers how TripTie treats the personal information that TripTie collects and receives. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable. Examples include, but are not limited to, your name, address, e-mail address, or phone number.
- Children's Privacy. TripTie does not knowingly collect information about or from children. Should a child whom TripTie knows to be under 13 send personal information to us, TripTie will use that information only to respond directly to the child, in order to inform him/her that TripTie requires parental consent prior to receiving his/her personal information.

- When you register, TripTie collects user submitted account information, such as your name and e-mail address, to both identify you and send you notifications related to the use of TripTie. This information will not be shown within the application. The only time this information may be used is when you send an e-mail invitation to invite a friend to use TripTie.
- TripTie also collects user submitted location information such as the city and state of your closest airport. In addition, TripTie collects user submitted trip itineraries, trip items, to-bring lists, blogs, photos, ratings, and comments.
- TripTie automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, requested URL, referring URL, and time-stamp.
- TripTie uses information for the following general purposes: products and services provision, identification and authentication, services improvement, contact, research, and anonymous reporting.

- IP addresses are automatically reported by your browser each time you view a web page. Your IP address is stored in our user registration databases when you "sign in" or register with TripTie.
- IP addresses may be used for various purposes, including:
- To diagnose or service technology problems reported by our users or engineers which are associated with the IP addresses controlled by a specific web company or ISP.
- To tailor advertising based on geographic area or other information derived from your IP address. Aggregate information derived from IP addresses may also be reported to advertisers. Such information will not be in a form that will allow any third party to personally identify TripTie users.

- Like most websites, TripTie requires cookies to function properly. A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, which is sent to your browser from a web site's servers and is stored on your computer's hard drive. TripTie uses cookies to refine our site and simplify the user experience.
- You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. If you reject all cookies, you may not be able to use TripTie products or services that require you to "sign in." In addition, you may not be able to take full advantage of the TripTie site.
- TripTie uses its own cookies for a number of purposes, including to: access your information when you "sign in," keep track of preferences you specify while you are using the TripTie site, display the most appropriate advertising banners based on your interests and activity, estimate and report our total audience size and traffic, and to conduct research to improve TripTie's content and site.

- Within the application, you will be identified to other users by the User Name you select at registration. The trip plans that you create (the itineraries, to-bring lists, blogs, and photos) are by default public information and information that is identified by your selected User Name. Certain elements are automatically hidden for your protection, such as specific dates of travel, specific dates and details of transportation and accommodations, private notes and confirmation numbers, and anything that you explicitly mark as "private" (you will be prompted if this option is available).
- If you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other third parties in return.
- TripTie does not sell, rent, share, or trade any of your personal information unless required by law.
- TripTie may be required to disclose personally identifiable information under special circumstances, such as to comply with subpoenas, warrants, court orders or legal process or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
- It may be necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities, including, but not limited to, fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of TripTie's "Terms of Use", or as otherwise permitted or required by law.
- TripTie reserves the right to transfer your personal information in the event of a transfer of ownership of TripTie, such as acquisition by or merger with another company. In such an event, TripTie will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

- Users may modify their TripTie personal account information at any time.
- TripTie reserves the right to send users certain communications relating to TripTie use, such as service announcements and administrative messages, that are considered part of a TripTie account.
- Users may delete their TripTie account at any time; however, please note that your identification and contact information may remain in TripTie's records for some period. If you wish to close your account, please contact the TripTie Administrator.
- Access to your personal information is limited to TripTie employees whom TripTie reasonably believes needs to come in contact with that information.
- Your TripTie account information is password-protected. TripTie takes every precaution to protect your information. TripTie uses industry standard measures to protect your information that is stored within our databases.

- TripTie reserves the right to update this policy at any time. Significant changes to how TripTie handles personal information will be conveyed to users via notice to the primary e-mail address specified in their personal accounts or by placing a prominent notice on the TripTie site.
